One of the best (and cheapest) things to do in London is to visit the many different markets across the city. Whatever you’re after, there will be a market for you. Plus, if you’re on a budget, then browsing the various unique and interesting markets are the perfect way to spend a day in London. Below are 12 of some of the best markets London has to offer.
Tooting Market
This small market is a great little find in Tooting. There are a number of independent stores – clothes, record stores, wine and gin stores and barbers etc. Alongside this, you can also find a number of great food spots – from Greek and Mexican to Asian, Mauritian and Venezualan.
Hours: Monday – Saturday 8am – 10:30pm, Sunday 9am – 10:30pm

Borough Market
Borough Market is pretty well known in London, and if you’re heading to central London it’s definitely worth popping in. Located right by the Shard and London Bridge, it’s easy to get to and packed full of food options.
Hours: Monday – Thursday 10 am – 5pm, Friday 10am – 6pm, Saturday 8am – 5pm

Camden Market
Camden is known for being alternative and quirky, and the market here is no different! Get the tube to Camden town and walk along the colourful, unique high street. You’ll pass loads of interesting shops and other venues. Eventually, you’ll end up at the Stables – a huge market area filled with trinkets and food, including the famous Cereal Killer Cafe.

Pop Brixton
Pop Brixton is a complex of shipping containers, popular with younger generations as it contains a multitude of trendy street food vendors, bars and independent retailers. It’s a great spot to support local businesses and social enterprises.
Hours: Thursday – Saturday 12 – 11:30pm, Sunday – Wednesday 12 – 10pm

Boxpark, Shoreditch
Boxpark in Shoreditch is another street food market made from shipping containers. Its got a very cool vibe, attracting mostly a younger crowd. There are plenty of options to choose from, and they also do evening events with live DJ’s.

Brixton Village
Another popular food spot in Brixton is Brixton Village and Market Row, where you’ll find plenty of vendors offering street food from around the world, including India, Asia, Africa, South America and the Caribbean. If you’re looking to eat something different, and full of flavour then head to Brixton Village.

Berwick Street
Not only is Berwick Street in Soho packed full of independent shops and pubs which are worth a visit, but the market from Monday to Saturday also offers plenty of food and fashion stalls. It’s one of Londons oldest markets, but still a very hip and popular one.

Old Spitalfields Market
This market is a huge, covered market in Tower Hamlets, which makes it a great option if the typical English weather is playing up. With over 100 different traders under one roof, it offers a great mix of retailers, market stalls and street food vendors.
Hours: Monday – Friday 10am – 8pm, Saturday 10am – 6pm, Sunday 10am – 5pm

Brick Lane Market
This vintage market is an exceptional spot for a bit of Sunday shopping. Filled with second-hand furniture, unique and vintage clothing and a huge variety of international cuisines.

Greenwich Market
Greenwich is a really lovely area of London, and the popular market is a great addition to a lovely day out. With up to 120 different stalls, you’ll be able to browse plenty of art and antiques and grab a bite to eat from any of the delicious food stalls.

Portobello Road Market
Portobello Road is an area worth exploring in itself, but if you can visit during the market hours, then even better! This cute area of London is filled with pastel-coloured buildings and lovely antique stores.

Columbia Road Flower Market
If you’re looking for something a bit different to a market filled with food and clothes, then try out Columbia Road Flower Market. The name gives away exactly what you’ll find here – stands and stands of floral beauty!
